Flaming hot overreaction takes from Spurs' preseason lightshow

The preseason is in the books, and it was poetic like Charles Dickinson or Edgar Allen Poe without being as dreary. It was quite the opposite, actually. The Spurs gave fans much to be excited about because the future is brighter than your phone when you get a text message at 3:00 am. They finished off the Pacers 133-104, going 5-0 in the preseason for the first time in almost 30 years.

It's only the preseason. Yeah. I've even said that we shouldn't take too much from it. But we're going to toss that out the window today, because the excitement for the Silver and Black is at an all-time high, so we're just going to ride the wave. We should. Point totals aside, [the team looks good](https://airalamo.com/hilarious-viral-meme-reveals-nba-fans-true-feelings-spurs-rebuild). So let's overreact to what they've shown us thus far.

Champagnie will be one of the league's best shooters

----------------------------------------------------

Julian Champagnie has been on fire during the exhibition games. He's knocked down a bajillion three pointers, and it feels like whenever the ball leaves his fingertips, it's money. During the broadcast, Jacob Tobey revealed his conversation with the coaches, where he asked if Jules had been as consistent during training camp, and they confirmed that he has.

Champagne Dreams shot 19/30 from three. That's a billion percent, if you round up and carry the one. One of the most repeated questions of the offseason has been where the Spurs will get their shooting from, and we have at least one very solid answer for that mildly annoying inquiry.

Spurs will have at least two all-stars

--------------------------------------

We can just go ahead and write Victor Wembanyama in now. He's going to make the All-Star team for the next decade plus, but who his running mate will be is still in question. This first year, it should be easy. De'Aaron Fox will accompany The Alien to the NBA's February funfest, but he may not be the only one.

To be fair and honest, it's highly unlikely that the Spurs get three all-stars, but after what Stephon Castle just gave us a glimpse of, I'm not putting it past him. I think Fox will have one of his best years yet, and that, combined with San Antonio's rise, will get him the second all-star spot. I can see him averaging 24 points and six assists, while making huge plays in the clutch. That's all he needs to make it happen.

Spurs will have a top 5 offense

-------------------------------

So, if Vic is a top-five player and an MVP candidate, and he's playing with an all-star point guard in his prime, with one of the best shooters in the league as a weapon, is this really that hot of a take? I don't know. Maybe it is just because the Spurs haven't had an elite offense in a long time, but that means nothing for this coming season. Each year takes on a life of its own.

Those components make it easy to see the vision, though. This is a talented and deep ball club that will get [contributions from many places](https://airalamo.com/spurs-special-benefit-make-them-impossible-shake). Wembanyama has been laughably efficient this postseason, and if he keeps that up, this will be seen as a cold take.

The Spurs haven't made the playoffs in over half a decade. Preseason hype aside, that's about to change. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess, but one thing is for sure: the NBA won't be able to hold the Silver and Black back much longer.

Book it.
