Through six games, Dallas has struggled to find balance. The defense has allowed too many explosive plays and failed to close out critical possessions, forcing Prescott and the offense to play with little margin for error. In recent weeks, he’s admitted that it feels like every throw and every possession carries the weight of the game’s outcome.

Prescott has carried that burden before, but this season feels different. With Dallas unable to consistently stop opponents, he’s had to elevate not just his play but his leadership. His accuracy, poise, and command have kept Dallas competitive, but the strain of constantly having to compensate for defensive shortcomings is beginning to show.
Still, Prescott hasn’t allowed frustration to take over. He continues to emphasize execution, accountability, and composure, even as outside noise grows louder. Coaches and teammates have praised his focus, noting that he’s setting the tone for an offense that has had to adapt quickly to adversity.

Prescott recently talked about handling the offense while enduring Dallas’ defense. This can be seen in a post shared by Jon Machota on X.

Dallas’ coaching staff knows that leaning too heavily on Prescott isn’t sustainable. Without a defensive turnaround, every game risks becoming a shootout, and no quarterback can shoulder that pressure indefinitely. Prescott’s insistence on maintaining his own standard is admirable, but it underscores a larger problem the team has yet to solve.
