Erling Haaland’s second-half double did the damage and sees us extend our unbeaten run across all competitions to eight matches.

Pep Guadiola’s men also have more Premier League points in this calendar year than any other side and Foden believes our current form shows that consistency is back in the squad.

“I think it shows we’re consistent as a team at the moment,” he said in his interview with City Studios after the game.

“But you know football can change so quickly. We know if we get the wrong result for example, sometimes it’s hard to come back from that.

“So we want to keep focused now and not get ahead of ourselves.

“We know what it takes to win the league. This is one small step in the right direction.

“They’re [Everton] obviously a top quality team, I’ve seen them this year make top teams struggle. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game, they’re so good at defending and keeping compact.”

Foden also touched on his impressive personal form and showered praise on prolific team-mate Haaland.
