‘He should’: David Moyes gives his honest verdict on struggling Everton player

David Moyes has delivered his verdict on Everton forward Beto after the Portuguese player missed two glaring chances against Manchester City.

Ultimately, the Toffees fell to a 2-0 defeat in what turned out to be a game that highlighted the difference in quality between the strikers each side has.

While the Everton forward struggled to hit the net with chances you’d expect most Premier League strikers to finish, Erling Haaland dealt a double blow in the second half.

Pat Nevin believes the forward’s performance will make fans furious, and Everton’s manager was asked about the rued chances following the game.

David Moyes says Beto should have done better vs Manchester City

David Moyes has said that Beto should have done much better with his chances against Manchester City.

When you play a team like Pep Guardiola’s side, you will have few opportunities to score; however, in the first half, Moyes’ side managed to create two golden moments to hit the net.

In the end, the Everton forward fluffed his chances, being unable to connect with a cross that left him with an open goal and misfiring wide when left in space in the box.

Speaking after the game, Moyes said via BBC Sport, “I think the one he doesn’t get to, he should get to. The one that was given offside was onside, I think, and ultimately we get a VAR decision if it goes in. The first chance – we’re studs away from getting a goal.”

If the forward had managed to score any one of those opportunities, it could have been a much different game.

Instead, Erling Haaland was able to punish the Blues, and it resulted in them returning to Liverpool with zero points.

Now, Moyes is left with a big choice ahead of Everton’s next match.

Beto must be dropped against Tottenham

Whether it is Thierno Barry, Iliman Ndiaye, or a makeshift option, Beto should not start against Tottenham.

The Portuguese forward had plenty of chances to score against Manchester City, and unfortunately he did not prove himself worthy of another start.

Beto has been a figure of frustration recently, and fans are growing impatient with the player.

The 27-year-old is lacking confidence, and with another tough opposition in Thomas Frank’s Spurs coming up, Moyes needs someone at the top of their game, and there are no signs that Beto is playing his way into form.
