West Ham have reportedly reignited their search for January defensive reinforcements, which could see the club spend all the money generated from the sale of Nayef Aguerd.
The Hammers are said to be ready to join a four-way battle for Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell, with Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Everton also interested. And according to Claret & Hugh’s top transfer source, Cresswell is a player of genuine interest but David Moyes is also keen.

Everton boss David Moyes is looking to beat West Ham to Cresswell
The 23-year-old centre-back, who has impressed in Ligue 1 since leaving Elland Road, is believed to be available for around £15 million when the transfer window opens in January — precisely the same amount the Hammers received from Aguerd’s sale to Marseille in the summer.
Nuno Targets Leadership and Defensive Stability
Cresswell’s strong aerial presence and composure on the ball have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo recently admitting his main focus is on fixing the Hammers’ defence.
Cresswell is wanted by West Ham
The England U21 centre-half was a standout performer during Lee Carsley’s successful summer campaign, which saw the Young Lions crowned European Champions. Not only was Cresswell defensively solid throughout that tournament, but he also demonstrated impressive leadership qualities — something West Ham have clearly been missing this season.
Speaking to our top transfer source, C&H were informed: “Yes, he [Cresswell] is one of the targets. But Everton are interested and like I said before, the relegation clause could be an issue”.
West Ham insist on inserting a 50% wage reduction in the event of relegation meaning the longer the club remain at the foot of the table the harder it could be to attract new players.
