BBC journalist issues Hannibal Mejbri update after Burnley vs Leeds United allegation

BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope has confirmed that an investigation into Burnley player Hannibal Mejbri is underway after their Premier League meeting with Leeds United.

It is safe to say that there is no love lost between the Leeds United fans and former Manchester United player Hannibal Mejbri.

Leeds fans have often directed chants at the midfielder referencing his past at Old Trafford, and the two parties were reacquainted in Leeds’ damaging defeat against Burnley.

Although Hannibal got the last laugh as Brenden Aaronson missed a glorious chance for the visitors, he could face punishment after the game.

According to Pope, Hannibal is under investigation for spitting after an incident during the Premier League clash.

At the time of writing, no further details of the investigation have been confirmed, but Hannibal could face a significant ban if the charge is proven.
