Ange Postecoglou’s time as Nottingham Forest manager is over after just 39 days.
Less than 30 minutes after Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea, Nottingham officials released a statement confirming the polarising Australian had been sacked.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the [statement](https://x.com/nffc/status/1979543591023259803?s=46) said.
“The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecolgou was only hired in September by club owner Evangelos Marinakis, his 39-day stint setting a new record for the shortest tenure for a permanent manager in English Premier League history.
The previous record had been held by Les Reed who lasted just 40 days as Charlton Athletic boss in 2006.
