George Pickens has proven to be well worth the investment the Dallas Cowboys made for him when they traded a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick for the wide receiver and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
With CeeDee Lamb sidelined for the past three weeks with a high left ankle sprain, Pickens has flourished, becoming the leading receiver for Dallas with 32 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
The Cowboys are expected to get a boost for quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 7, as Lamb is expected to return to play against the Washington Commanders.
However, the Cowboys revealed concerning injury news at the wide receiver position on Saturday.
Per Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas News, in a series of roster moves made on Saturday, the Cowboys are keeping Mingo on injured reserve.
“Cowboys activated CB Caelen Carson,” Hoyt posted on X. “He's felt ready for a while. Imagine he's excited to get back on the field. They also elevated RB Malik Davis. Stephen Jones said yesterday they were a fan of his. Jonathan Mingo remains on IR. His window runs out Wednesday.”
On Oct.1, the Cowboys activated Mingo’s 21-day practice window. Mingo was placed on the reserve list before the regular season due to a knee injury.
Dallas has until Wednesday to activate the wide receiver to the 53-man roster, or he will have to be placed on season-ending injured reserve, per league rules.
The Cowboys traded for Mingo last season. He played in eight games for Dallas, recording five receptions for 46 yards.
The 2023 second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers has appeared in 32 games and started 20, recording 60 receptions for 585 yards.
Mingo, a standout at Ole Miss, has yet to score a receiving touchdown in the NFL.
