Baker Mayfield is not only performing like an NFL MVP on the field, but he's also strategizing like a savvy businessman off it. It comes after Aaron Rodgers finally shared his wife's name after their secret wedding changed his "whole world."
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently leading the NFC with a 5-1 record, thanks to their quarterback, Mayfield, who is emerging as a strong MVP contender. He has successfully completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 1,539 yards, along with 12 touchdowns and just one interception.

Despite key players like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Bucky Irving being sidelined due to injuries, along with tackles Tristan Wirfs and Luke Goedeke, Mayfield's performance has been nothing short of remarkable. Even when rookie Egbuka was injured during Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, Mayfield managed to secure the win, relying heavily on another rookie sensation, Tez Johnson.

With Mike Evans potentially returning for Monday Night Football, this could significantly enhance the Bucs offense.
However, Mayfield remains focused on accumulating victories regardless of the receivers available to him, demonstrating his self-confidence.
After leading the Bucs to a playoff victory in the 2024 offseason, replacing Tom Brady, Tampa Bay rewarded Mayfield with a three-year, $100 million contract extension.
The deal has proven to be a steal; Mayfield guided the Bucs to the NFC South title last season, and the team is currently leading the pack in 2025.

Last season, Mayfield showed off his skills by completing 71.4 percent of his passes for a whopping 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
This year, the 30-year-old is proving to be even better, but he only has one year left on his contract after this season.
Mayfield has outperformed his first two contracts with the Buccaneers, including a one-year deal worth $4 million in 2023, and his current contract. However, it seems that Mayfield doesn't want any distractions from contract talks during the Bucs' impressive start to the season.
The Buccaneers are definitely prepared to reward Mayfield beyond his current contract. But according to The Athletic, negotiations will only resume after the season, and if Mayfield wins MVP, his bargaining position will only get stronger.

If Mayfield guides the Buccaneers to the playoffs again, he's sure to receive a hefty payday.
He could potentially seek more than $50 million per year on his next contract, especially if he clinches the MVP title, although his clear admiration for the Buccaneers franchise might lead him to accept a more team-friendly deal.
This would allow the Bucs to keep some of their top players and remain competitive in the future. The Bucs are set to face off against the 4-2 Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football on Oct. 20.
