Enzo Maresca summarised his thoughts on a second successive victory in the league for Chelsea.
The Blues were fortunate to avoid conceding a goal in the first 20 minutes of the match, but they pulled away from Nottingham Forest with a quickfire double through Josh Acheampong and Pedro Neto. As the action wound down, Reece James got on the scoresheet to wrap up a 3-0 triumph.
Malo Gusto received a late red card to add to their recent list of dismissals, but it was not a concern for the head coach, who was happy with the commitment of the group to improving the performance.
“I think first half we struggle a little bit. Off the ball I think we were good. On the ball we made some mistake where we concede some moments to them.
“My message half time was guys off the ball the way we are pressing we are good on the ball we are not good enough because first half we made three four mistake, we look sloppy in the buildup.
"Second half we were much better for sure.
“We can do better in terms of red card that it's a mistake. 3-0 you know already one yellow card. We can avoid that. In the same time in the same time I have to say that the desire from the players don't concede goal it's important also in the last four five minutes they were shouting don't concede.
“We can do better but show the desire that they were playing for clean sheet they don't want to concede nothing.
“I'm not concerned. It is a moment that we concede the red card. Yes, we can avoid that. Yes, for sure we can avoid that. But also for me, the desire of the player is important.
“Today with 3-0, 90 minutes the game is finished. Malo can avoid that. because it's useless to make second foul and yellow card for sure. But also the good part is Malo is showing that he doesn't want to concede nothing. They don't want to concede goal. They are playing for clean sheet.”
