Mikel Arteta identifies the Arsenal players who ‘created chaos’ in Fulham win

Arsenal maintained their place at the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday evening.

Fringe forward Leandro Trossard scored the winning goal at Craven Cottage, with the Belgian repaying the club after signing a new contract in the summer.

Arsenal fans will hope their side can continue their strong start to the 2025-26 Premier League season, with the Emirates Stadium outfit desperate for silverware this term.

Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres in the summer, with the Swedish forward partnered by Bukayo Saka and Trossard in attack against Fulham.

After the victory, manager Mikel Arteta was quick to praise the duo for an under-rated part of their collective game.

Arteta delighted with Arsenal press

Arsenal’s progression in recent seasons has been built around a solid defence, with the Gunners recording another clean sheet on Saturday.

While star defenders William Saliba and Gabriel often receive a lot of the credit, Arteta has stated defending is a whole-of-team responsibility – and picked out his forwards for praise in this regard.

“The way our front line chases the ball, puts people under pressure, creates chaos there – it’s phenomenal,” the Arsenal manager told the club’s official website.

“The level of organisation I’m very pleased with, but it’s more about the mindset and the willingness to do it.”

Gyokeres and goalscorer Trossard were subsequently replaced by Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino after the duo put in lung-busting performances.

Blend of pace and power in Arsenal attack

The signing of Gyokeres in the summer was seen as a statement of intent by Arsenal, with hopes the Scandinavian hitman could be the goal machine the side needed to fight for silverware.

While the former Sporting Lisbon man has only scored three Premier League goals so far in his time in North London, the Swede’s work-rate and endeavour have endeared him to the Gunners fans.

While Saka is an automatic starter when fit and available, Trossard reminded the Arsenal faithful of his ability in the win over Fulham after surprisingly getting the nod to start.

Arteta will be pleased with the options he has across the forward line – especially with Gabriel Jesus still not fit – as the Gunners fight for honours on four fronts in 2025-26.
