The Las Vegas Raiders are making their final preparations for their Week 7 showdown against the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs. It’s a big game for both teams as they both look to claw their way up the AFC standings.
For the Raiders, a win would bring them to 3-4 on the season. As for the Chiefs, a win would give them a 4-3 record and would also give them their fourth win over the last five games.
With that being said, there has been a major injury scenario leading up to the game.
Las Vegas star tight end Brock Bowers has been dealing with a knee injury and hasn’t been able to play since September 28. He has been missed badly within the Raiders’ offense. A new update has been shared about his status against Kansas City.
According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Bowers is not expected to play against the Chiefs.
“Raiders TE Brock Bowers, listed as doubtful for Sunday's game due to his knee injury, is not expected to play vs. the Chiefs, per source,” Schefter wrote on X. “The Raiders' bye is next week, and Bowers will have a good chance to return after the bye.”
Bowers broke out as an immediate star last season during his rookie year. He racked up 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games.
So far this season, the 22-year-old star has caught 19 passes for 225 yards in four games. He has yet to find the end zone.
Without Bowers on the field, Las Vegas will need other players to step up. Geno Smith has not had a good first season with the Raiders and currently leads the NFL in interceptions thrown. He’ll need targets to step up against a solid Kansas City defense.
Schefter has also reported an update on veteran wide receiver Jakobi Meyers for the Raiders.
“Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee and toe injury, will work out pre-game to determine whether he can play against the Chiefs, per source,” he wrote.
Hopefully, Meyers is able to play. Las Vegas will badly need the help with Bowers out once again.
