NFL Team Willing to Part With All but 2 Players Ahead of Trade Deadline

There may not be a more disorderly team in the NFL right now than the Tennessee Titans.

There was hope that 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward would inject the kind of youthful exuberance needed to keep what many believed to be Year 1 of a potentially arduous rebuild from going off the rails, but that proved to not be the case after head coach Brian Callahan was fired just six weeks into the season.

And with former head coach Mike Vrabel-Callahan's predecessor who was fired just two years ago after a 6-11 season-coming to town this week with his AFC East-leading New England Patriots, the spotlight is shining bright on just how anarchic the organization currently is.

Senior offensive assistant-turned-interim head coach Mike McCoy has 11 games left in the season to show the front office-namely controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, president of football operations Chad Brinker, general manager Mike Borgonzi-what he can do.

McCoy could be working with a much different roster than the one Callahan had for the first six games after The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported the Titans are seemingly open to trading anyone on their roster aside from two specific players.

"The Titans are open for business on every player but QB Cam Ward and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons," Russini reported. "They are looking to stockpile future picks."

Ward has had a rough start to his rookie year, completing just 55% of his passes for 1,101 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions with a passer rating of 67.3.

He's been sacked 25 times playing behind one of the more porous offensive lines in the NFL. Left tackle Dan Moore Jr., right tackle JC Latham, and backup tackle John Ojukwu have all allowed four sacks each, while tackle Olisaemeka Udoh, guard Kevin Zeitler, and center Lloyd Cushenberry have each allowed two sacks.

Tennessee's offensive line has allowed a combined 82 pressures, 46 hurries, and 15 QB hits through six games, per Pro Football Focus.

Conversely, Simmons leads the Titans in pressures (27), hurries (16), and sacks (4.5), and ranks second in QB hits (six). The 28-year-old Simmons is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, and he's under team control for two more seasons after this.
