'Interesting one': Ally McCoist predicts whether Man United are now good enough to beat Liverpool tomorrow

Ally McCoist has backed Liverpool on several occasions already this term.

Before their three-game losing streak, most pundits and journalists were saying that Liverpool would easily win the Premier League.

However, since they’ve managed to get beaten by Galatasaray, Chelsea and Crystal Palace over the last few weeks, questions are now being asked about whether they even have what it takes to beat Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim’s men haven’t been in the best run of form either, with the Red Devils sitting 10th in the top flight.

However, since United often step things up a gear or two when facing the Anfield outfit, there’s a sense of optimism that they could get one over their rivals.

And, ahead of the clash on Sunday, McCoist has shared his prediction on how the game is going to pan out.

In their last 10 meetings across all competitions, Liverpool have only lost to the Red Devils twice.

During that time, the Reds even managed to beat their arch-rivals 7-0 in what was one of the most iconic Anfield wins of all time.

Mohamed Salah will be looking to get back to his best, with others such as Florian Wirtz likely hoping to finally get the ball into the back of the net.

And, while speaking to TNT Sports, McCoist gave his prediction on how the game is going to pan out.

“Liverpool are an interesting one – they’ve lost the last three and gone from scoring late goals to conceding late goals,” he said.

“But I just think they will have enough for United at home.

“There’s definitely been an improvement at United, but I’m not sure it’s enough improvement to see off a Liverpool side who, on their day, can beat anybody.”

Liverpool must get back to winning ways against Manchester United

Usually, the international break is more of a hindrance than anything else. This time, however, it genuinely couldn’t have come at a better time.

Almost all of the Reds’ confidence had been zapped out of them due to their three losses against what should have been inferior opponents.

The international break will have given Liverpool’s players a chance to recoup and figure out what they need to do so that they can get back to winning ways.

Players such as Cody Gakpo, Salah, and Dominik Szoboszlai all starred for their countries over the last week or so, which will have hopefully brought some of their confidence back to allow them to improve their performances for Liverpool.
