Leeds United could have gone seven points clear of Burnley with a win but instead are now just a point above their relegation rivals. It’s now successive defeats in the Premier League for Daniel Farke ’s side, who now have one point from three games.
The Leeds boss said his side missed "unbelievable” opportunities during the game amid 19 shots powered in, with four of these on target. United have to be more clinical with the chances they get.
The result yesterday puts pressure on Friday’s home clash with West Ham United. Going three games without a point would stir angst ahead of a tricky period of opponents.
Going behind - again
Leeds have now gone behind in the last five matches and have not taken the lead in a game since the opening night of the season. That has to change. The Whites are always giving themselves an uphill task to overcome and it is costing them.
The reason behind this varies, as do all the types of goals that have gone in against Leeds. One of them is communication and awareness, which can account for the goals at Wolves and at Burnley.
“It's always difficult. But, of course, it’s something that you can address,” said Farke after full-time. “We want to return back to clean sheet behaviour.
"We've shown several times that we have this mentality. We also can come back and turn games. But if you always have to climb a mountain, especially in an away game, it's difficult.”
Harrison’s outing
Jack Harrison began his first Premier League match of the season with Noah Okafor sidelined with injury. This was the chance he wanted since returning to Leeds this summer and he is likely to start again against West Ham with Okafor expected to remain out.
The winger looked leggy early on but grew into the match and was the man who set up Brenden Aaronson for his good one-on-one chance in the first half. He had two efforts in the second half, the first of which he will feel he ought to have done better with.
Sean Longstaff’s cross found his boot, Harrison driving the ball into the ground and over the bar. Facing up against Kyle Walker was never going to be an easy task. It’d be harsh to say he had a poor game but wrong to say he lit up the pitch either.
Injury impacts
The fact Daniel James managed to take to the pitch so soon having initially been ruled out for between a month and six weeks with an ankle issue is a boost, even if he was clearly not up to full speed. Farke described his inclusion as an “emergency” due to the injuries on the flanks.

WIlfried Gnonto has not played since September 13 both due to a calf injury and now due to minor surgery on a hernia. Okafor is expected to miss West Ham on Friday, this the second time he has picked up a groin issue.
Widely speaking, Leeds have had a bit of a rough time with setbacks. Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka were both out in August and now the spate of injuries, which includes Lucas Perri’s slow return from a quad issue.
Being depleted in options due to injury is having an impact on proceedings, no doubt. Farke has had to change system at times during games to accommodate three strikers on the pitch. These setbacks are stretching the squad and are taking their toll.
