Opinion: David Moyes has clear striker solution amid Beto and Thierno Barry's Everton struggles

Beto and Thierno Barry have both been far off the pace this season, and that has left David Moyes with a decision to make, with the answer being clear.

Beto’s struggles were highlighted against Manchester City. The Portuguese forward missed two golden chances to put Everton ahead, and in the end they were left to rue those opportunities.

Fans have grown impatient with Beto, and Barry has yet to demonstrate why he was signed.

The Toffees’ two centre forwards are not at the races, and David Moyes must find a solution, and that is through Iliman Ndiaye.

Iliman Ndiaye must start up front for Everton against Tottenham

Iliman Ndiaye is preferred out wide by David Moyes, and it is perhaps his best role. However, with Everton lacking quality up front, he may just be their best option right now.

Beto and Thierno Barry have both struggled to impress this season, and the duo have just one goal between them.

Moyes has to try something new up front, as the current choices are simply not working.

The Senegalese was one of Everton’s best performers against Man City, and while taking him away from the wing will leave the Blues lacking out wide, the depth in quality is much better in those positions.

Tyler Dibling could play on the wing in place of the £16.9 million forward, with Carlos Alcaraz also another option.

Merlin Rohl’s timely return from injury provides yet another option in one of the forward roles, with the German capable of being deployed further up the pitch too.

Additionally, Dwight McNeil could be given a chance to show his quality after recently being frozen out of Moyes’ plans.

However, Ndiaye seems to be the most logical choice.

Iliman Ndiaye’s record at striker

Ndiaye is the player most familiar with spearheading an attack, other than Beto and Barry, having played up top 49 times throughout his career, and that remains the best option.

The winger has ten goals and 12 assists in those appearances while playing as a number nine throughout his career.

With limited options, it is certainly worth trying, and his goal against Brighton earlier in the season showcased his willingness to get into the box to score goals.

Time will tell what David Moyes decides, but to most fans, it seems clear that Beto and Barry should not be starting at the moment.
