The Seagulls walked away with a 2-1 victory at the AmexStadiumin an absorbing fixture that truly took flight in the second half. **Danny Welbeck**rewarded the bravery of the hosts with the first goal of the game, chipping the onrushing Nick Pope, and his second strike sealed the three points at the end.
The assist for his first successful effort was a neat through ball from Georginio Rutter. The French forward is brilliant at bringing the ball into the final third, and was a useful asset against an intense, hard-running outfit that defend like Newcastle, but his overall application also stood out on the day.
Last but by no means least was Jan Paul van Hecke, who has hit 100 appearances for the club. He has been a big asset since the summer of 2023 and continues to impress the German head coach.
