David Moyes reflected on the level of competitiveness of **Everton**after a 2-0 loss to Man City.
The Toffees still sit tenth in the Premier League table even after this result, and have built on a strong second half of the season under the Scotsman. Their performance in a 2-1 derby day defeat at **Anfield**against **Liverpool**was also competitive, indicating that this side are now world away from their woes when their manager first arrived. Relegation is not on the cards, but how high can the team aspire?
Moyes does not want to put limits on his players, and he is embracing the challenge of taking the club forward from the dugout for a second time after his successful era in Merseyside in the 2000s and the early 2010s. For now, he is proud of the foundations that have raised the standards for the squad.
“I want us to be competitive against the best teams we've tried to be competitive against Man City ,Liverpool,Arsenal, when we play them, and I hope we can between now and the end of the season, but we won't win all the games, but we'll be making sure that we are competitive.
“Today, maybe we weren't, maybe we didn't make enough chances, but we couldn't get enough possession because they're so good. But we did make two or three, and sometimes when you come here, I've seen other teams come here, have less of the ball and chances and go away with a result.
“I am pleased with how we're performing, how we picked up compared to where we were this time last year and what we're doing. We've had a really good away record in the main. I came here today thinking I might have a chance of getting a result and for 60 odd minutes we weren't that far away.”
