Shock candidate emerges to replace Ange Postecoglou at Forest, as Celtic's Brendan Rodgers is…

Celtic fans won’t be surprised to hear that Ange Postecoglou has been sacked following his side’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

It’s a shame he has been treated this way, and 18 minutes after the full-time whistle, but rumours that Nottingham Forest were going to boot him out had been surfacing for a while now.

This is despite Forest only appointing Postecoglou as their manager 39 days ago, as the Celtic hero suffers the second-shortest reign in Premier League history.

Even before Postecoglou was axed, names of who could come in were being thrown about, including Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, but now another interesting name has been put on the table.

Roberto Mancini linked with Nottingham Forest job after Ange Postecoglou’s sacking

Roberto Mancini was the man to kick-start Manchester City’s title-winning dynasty when Sergio Aguero scored that dramatic stoppage-time goal in 2012.

But it has now been reported by the Telegraph that Mancini is a ‘realistic contender’ to replace Postecoglou at the City Ground.

Mancini’s last two jobs have been international gigs – with Saudi Arabia and winning Euro 2020 with Italy – as his last club job was with Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2018.

‘Exclusive: Roberto Mancini has emerged as a realistic contender (for the Forest job),’ wrote Jason Burt on social media.

What about Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers?

Rodgers’ name has been linked with the Forest job, especially with his contract at Celtic expiring at the end of the season and the broken relationship with the board.

As of this moment, there don’t seem to be any fresh links or suggestions that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis wants Rodgers to come in.
