Nottingham Forest will reportedly have to pay £8million to prise Marco Silva away from Fulham.

Silva is among the contenders to replace Ange Postecoglou in the City Ground dugout after Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea proved to be the final straw for Evangelos Marinakis.

Postecoglou was dismissed after failing to win any of his eight games in charge since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in September.

Portuguese boss Silva has enjoyed a strong managerial career in England since arriving on these shores in 2017 with Hull City.

The 48-year-old has spent the last four years in charge at Craven Cottage and has guided Fulham to three mid-table finishes in a row since blitzing the Championship in 2021/22.

Before moving to England Silva enjoyed a spell with Marinakis’s Olympiacos in Greece and the Forest owner remains an admirer.

Whilst the Guardian claims that Sean Dyche and Roberto Mancini are the front-runners for the job, Silva’s name has also been thrown into the mix.

Silva’s Fulham contract expires at the end of the season but the Cottagers would demand £8m for him to leave mid-campaign.

Forest are not against paying compensation for a new boss but they are mindful of Profit and Sustainability regulations having just overseen a £200m summer spending spree.
