Burnley manager Scott Parker got so caught up in the celebrations after his team scored against Leeds United that he ended up injuring himself.
The Clarets ran out 2-0 winners at Turf Moor in what was a tight Premier League encounter. Leeds dominated possession and created the better chances, but clinical finishes from Lesley Ugochukwu and Loum Tchaouna sealed all three points for the home side.
The victory was a significant one for Burnley against their fellow newly-promoted rivals. It lifted them out of the relegation zone and to within a point of Leeds.
Speaking after the match, Parker admitted he got a little carried away after his team’s second goal.
“I’ve done my knee from celebrating,” he told Burnley’s official YouTube channel (via Burnley Express ). “It was definitely worth it. I think I would have taken more than just an injury to my knee for three points and the performance we got — and certainly the goal Loum produced.
“We’ve seen that in training. In and around the edge of the box, he’s a very good finisher. When he comes inside, it’s probably something he needs to do more of — shoot — because he’s a fantastic finisher.

“When it left his foot, I was right behind it and sensed it was going in the right place.”
Ultimately, it was the quality of Burnley’s two goals that proved decisive, as Leeds failed to produce any moments of inspiration in what was a one-dimensional attacking display.
Reflecting on the match, Parker said his side were on the right side of the game’s fine margins.
“My general feeling overall was that we played well in the first half and showed our quality,” he said. “We needed to dig in when we had to and stay organised.
“The fine margins in professional sport often come down to bits of brilliance. The first goal was every bit of that. The second goal epitomises it too. I’d like to sit here and say we trained that, but it’s individual quality and brilliance that gave us breathing space at 2-0 — because you know the pressure’s coming.”
