Nottingham Forest v FC Porto: Star out of squad and ever present is doubtful

Porto manager Francesco Farioli will be rotating his side this weekend, with Nottingham Forest firmly in his viewfinder.

That’s [according to Record](https://www.record.pt/), who have covered Saturday’s clash with Celoricense. Farioli named a surprising 20-man squad for that game on Friday.

The newspaper reports that defender Zaidu Sanusi is ‘doubtful’ for the game against Nottingham Forest next week. He returned from international duty with Nigeria with an injury in his right calf.

That saw him ruled out for the weekend and he’s also ‘doubtful’ for the trip to Nottingham Forest in the Europa League on Thursday. He is receiving treatment for the injury but only started that treatment after returning to Porto.

There was also a change in the Porto goal, with number one Diogo Costa dropped for Cláudio Ramos. He hasn’t played a game for Porto since the Club World Cup in the summer.

But the Portuguese side are concerned about Costa, who played 180 minutes for Portugal during the international break. He’s already played 14 straight games this season and ‘accumulated fatigues’.

The plan is for him to stay at home ‘recharging his strength’ before returning for Nottingham Forest. That game starts a ‘torrid cycle’ for the Portuguese side according to Record, and they want him fighting fit.

The belief is that Farioli intends to rotate his team completely, with others set to be rested as well. All eyes appear to be on Nottingham Forest and ensuring they’re ready for that game on Thursday.
