David Moyes will take some comfort in what Phil Foden and Ruben Dias said about Everton

Everton suffered their third Premier League defeat of the season to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

David Moyes felt Everton played well and perhaps should’ve taken one of their first-half opportunities to go one up.

But, ultimately, one of the best strikers on the planet, Erling Haaland, netted a second-half brace to win the game for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Phil Foden and Ruben Dias spoke about the Toffees post-match, and Moyes will probably be pretty pleased with what they said.

Phil Foden and Ruben Dias admit they struggled vs Everton

Manchester City stars Phil Foden and Ruben Dias, speaking post-match, admitted they found it really tough to play against Moyes’ side, especially in the first half.

“It was difficult,” Foden told Premier League Productions. “In the first half we weren’t really at it. We weren’t playing forward as quickly as we could do.

“We took too long on the ball and couldn’t find the space in between the lines. The manager spoke about it at half time and in the second half we were much more meaningful with the ball going forward, breaking lines and yeah we created a lot.

Dias told BBC Match of the Day: “A lot of work, they were not easy at all. First half we were more troubled, we couldn’t really set up our game. Completely different second half and three points.”

Everton should target at least five points from next three games

Moyes will be looking to put the City defeat behind him pretty swiftly, so the focus will now turn to Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees host Spurs at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, so they’ll be keen to remain undefeated at their new 52,000-seater.

Sunderland away and Fulham at home follow, which are certainly games they will be targeting maximum points in.

A win and two draws would be a respectable return from those three fixtures, and probably the minimum if they’re to achieve their goal of European football.

A busy few weeks ensue before the November international break.
