Leeds United have suffered a dip in form after looking resilient and competitive at the start of their life back in the Premier League. The Whites seem to be lacking invention in midfield, and their inability to convert chances has limited the team in the last few weeks.
Daniel Farke’s team are struggling, and with two defeats in their last three league games, Leeds are resembling a side that will be fighting for their lives towards the end of the Premier League season.

The Whites have shown grit and determination early in the campaign. However, the lack of quality in the final third, both in terms of chance creation and inability to convert inside the opposition’s penalty box, is haunting them.
Farke didn’t get the extra attacking reinforcements that he wanted last summer, and Leeds could be forced to take a risk and spend money in the winter window to avoid a free fall in the second half of the season.
Championship star could rescue Leeds United in the winter window
Gustavo Hamer is a player Farke has been keen to sign since last year. However, Sheffield United have so far blocked Leeds’ attempts to sign him.
Ahead of the winter transfer window, there is speculation that Leeds are considering reigniting their interest in the Sheffield United star as a potential target.
Leeds are in the market for an attacking midfielder in January and have been linked with a few players in Serie A, such as Lorenzo Pellegrini and Piotr Zielinski.
However, their interest in Hamer has endured, and the attacking midfielder has looked a class apart in a Sheffield United team struggling for form.
The Blades are 23rd in the Championship standings, with even Chris Wilder struggling to get the team going this season following his return to Bramall Lane.
However, Hamer has looked the best player in that team, and there is a real feeling that he could move on from the club in the winter window.
Whether Sheffield United will agree to sell him to Leeds for a reasonable fee in January is anyone’s guess.
Hamer will suit Leeds
He wants to play in the Premier League, and his performances this season demonstrate that he should be playing at a higher level or for a better team.
Leeds are seriously lacking a player in the middle of the park who will carry the ball forward and play more progressive passes. Sean Longstaff has taken up that responsibility, but he is not a natural.
Hamer could be that player if Leeds could convince Sheffield United to let him move to Elland Road in the winter window.
It is clear to see that he has been regularly playing incisive passes into the final third and the opposition’s penalty box to create those chances for the forwards.
Hamer is also a goalscoring threat himself and regularly gets inside the penalty box to create headaches for the opposition defences.
He started the season slowly, but he has been Sheffield United’s best player in the last few games and is getting back to his groove in the Championship.
However, he remains keen to play in the Premier League and is exactly the kind of player who Leeds are currently missing in their team.
