Marco Silva has emerged as Nottingham Forest’s ‘first choice’ to succeed Ange Postecoglou in the City Ground hot-seat – but the Portuguese is reluctant to leave Fulham mid-season.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis ended Postecoglou’s tenure on Saturday after eight games without a win and is now looking to hire his third manager of the campaign.
Sean Dyche and Roberto Mancini are the leading contenders for the job and both are currently out of work.
But Silva is also an attractive candidate and has a working relationship with Marinakis from previous club Olympiacos.
The Times claims Silva is Marinakis’s ‘preferred candidate’ to replace Postecoglou but casts doubt over whether the 48-year-old would be willing to leave Fulham during the season.
Silva’s Fulham contract expires at the end of the season and his preference would be to switch clubs once it has concluded.
According to a separate report in The Guardian, Silva's contract has an £8million break clause mid-season.
Forest are not against paying compensation for a new boss but they are mindful of Profit and Sustainability regulations having just overseen a £200m summer spending spree.
