Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is the reported subject of transfer interest from Bayern Munich.

The club captain was linked with moves away from Old Trafford throughout the summer transfer window, specifically with Saudi Pro League clubs. He rejected big offers from both Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad last summer to stay with United.

Fernandes’ contract with the club has just over 18 months left to run. While he has been a key part of the squad since arriving from Sporting CP, speculation over his future continues.

Our sister title The Mirror report that German giants Bayern Munich are plotting a move for Fernandes, with United putting an asking price of around £70 million on his head.

United are said to be willing to listen to bids for any player in their squad if the price is right following a big £236 million summer transfer spend.

United’s finishing position in the current season could have a big say on Fernandes’s future. If they fail to qualify for the Champions League for the 2026/27 campaign, then the 31-year-old may decide to move on.

Fernandes knows he will only have a limited number of years remaining where he can play at the top level, including Champions League football. Speaking about the speculation over his future in the summer transfer window, Fernandes explained his transfer stance.

"I didn't close the door on moving to Saudi Arabia because of the World Cup,” he said. "That was never in my mind. I wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the club wanted me to stay. That's all there is to it."

When asked about the possibility of leaving next summer, he said: “That's an impossible scenario to imagine, because it's nothing that's been discussed with me.

"When it was discussed with me, I spoke openly with you at a press conference before a Nations League match.

"I like to enjoy the moment, and the most important thing for me now is representing the national team, because it's a source of enormous pride to be able to play tomorrow [Saturday], and I still don't know if I'll play, let alone if I'll leave Manchester United in a year.

"I'm happy where I am; otherwise, I wouldn't have stayed, but it's something that doesn't affect me."
