BROWNS - Dolphins Matchup Preview
The Browns (1-5) were handcuffed by the Pittsburgh Steelers and have officially watched their season careen into chaos before the bye week.
After trading starting quarterback Joe Flacco and watching him thrive in Cincinnati, questions have arisen as to whether GM Andrew Berry and Cleveland have committed another all-time blunder. Head coach Kevin Stefanski, who has won Coach of the Year twice in his tenure with the Browns, could be on the hot seat.
This week offers a glimmer of hope: Cleveland is favored in a matchup for the first time all season.
The weather is expected to be a major factor in today’s game with wind gusts around 40 mph and heavy rain expected throughout the afternoon.
Rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel will make his third start of his career. Gabriel has 430 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions this season. Rookie Shedeur Sanders will serve as the backup quarterback for the second consecutive game.
Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy continues to try and rekindle a magical campaign from last season. He has 20 receptions for 240 yards, averaging 12.0 yards per reception.
Rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. leads the team in receiving yards, tallying 254 yards on 28 receptions with one touchdown. He averages 9.1 yards per reception. Tight end David Njoku is out with a knee injury.
Rookie running back Quinshon Judkins has emerged as a budding star within the franchise and will likely be asked to bear a heavy load against a very shoddy Miami run defense, which ranks last in the league at 168.5 yards allowed per game. Judkins has 84 carries for 383 yards and two touchdowns. He has rushed for at least 60 yards in all five of his games.
Myles Garrett, the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, appears irked by the recent decisions by the Browns. He was openly critical of the team abandoning the run game in Pittsburgh. Coming off a quiet game against the Steelers, Garrett has four sacks and 14 solo tackles. He has averaged 15 sacks in the last four seasons.
Rookie LB Carson Schwesinger has collected a team-high 52 total tackles, while Denzel Ward has 13 solo tackles and one interception.

The Dolphins (1-5) haven’t fared much better under bewildered head coach Mike McDaniel, and have lost superstar Tyreek Hill for the season. McDaniel has joined Stefanski in hot seat conversations in a season gone awry for South Beach.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has had to walk back comments about his team’s dedication while McDaniels absorbs heavy criticism for what appears to be a sinking ship in Miami.
Tagovailoa has 1,213 yards and 11 touchdowns with seven interceptions.
With Hill done for the season, Waddle has become the go-to option for the Fins’ receiving corps. He has 29 receptions for 390 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 13.4 yards per reception.
Versatile running back DeVon Achane can flip a matchup in a hurry. He has 76 carries for 390 yards and three touchdowns. Achane will be challenged by Cleveland’s stingy run defense, which has allowed just 79.7 yards per game, which is third in the NFL.
Linebacker Jordyn Brooks has 66 solo tackles and 1.5 sacks. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has one interception five pass deflections and 27 solo tackles.
