Everton already have their eye on a former Leeds United defender ahead of the winter transfer window.
David Moyes couldn’t get everything done in one window, so there are still areas of the squad that need addressing come January.
Firstly, a striker looks as though it’ll be a top priority as Thierno Barry and Beto just aren’t making the grade at the moment.
Everton may also explore the market for a right-back after missing out on Kenny Tete and Hector Fort in the summer.
Now, Everton News understands Moyes and his chiefs are scouting a centre-back who left Leeds United in 2024.

Everton scouting former Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell
Speaking exclusively to Everton News, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that the Toffees are keeping tabs on Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell.
Cresswell left Leeds United for the French outfit in the summer of 2024 and has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the division.
“Charlie Cresswell is doing very well in France, and this comes after a very good showing at the Euros,” Bailey told the site.

“Everton are very much in the market for new defenders in 2026 and I am told that he is one they have watched.
“He certainly fits the profile of player David Moyes likes, and is one to keep an eye on.”
Charlie Cresswell’s impressive stats
Cresswell, who helped England’s under-21s win the European Championships in the summer, has really impressive underlying data.
According to FBref, the 23-year-old ranks in the top four per cent in Europe for aerial duels won per 90 minutes compared to his positional peers.
He also sits in the top four per cent for non-penalty goals, which evinces his threat from set-pieces, which is a trait Moyes will like.
Cresswell’s defensive numbers are among the best around the continent, too, with his blocks and clearances per 90 putting him in the top 11 per cent.
