Manchester United are looking to offer Casemiro a new contract
Manchester United’s midfield picture has changed again this season. One name that refuses to fade quietly is Casemiro. Once Amorim viewed him as unwanted, but the veteran midfielder has turned things around with steady performances and renewed energy.
Pete O’Rourke said on the Inside Track podcast that Amorim has no immediate plans to let him go. The Brazilian has impressed the manager enough to stay in contention for regular starts. That situation looked distant just a few months ago. Casemiro’s contract ends in the summer, but United can extend it if they choose to.
The club, however, keeps a close eye on their wage structure. Reports say the club plans to offer him reduced terms because he earns £300,000 per week. Amorim, while rebuilding the squad, values Casemiro’s influence in the dressing room. He believes the midfielder helps the team raise their standards. Still, United’s board keeps searching for ways to cut costs and bring in younger players.
“Yeah, it’s been a bit of a turnaround in Casemiro’s future prospects at Old Trafford. He’s definitely played his way back into favour under Amorim.
It seems that Ruben Amorim is not rushing him out the door right now as well. Casemiro obviously is out of contract in the summer, but United do have an option to extend it.
I think if they were to give him a new contract, it does seem it would be on reduced wages because he is among the highest earners at Man United.
And United are obviously looking to trim their wage bill.
Casemiro, he’s in a strong position here. If he doesn’t agree a new contract at United or he doesn’t feel the terms on offer are good enough, he won’t be short of offers.
There’s a real possibility that they could give him a new contract to keep him at the club, probably six to 12 months ago it was unthinkable.”
Meanwhile, rumours from Saudi Arabia grow stronger. We reported earlier that Al-Nassr are keen to land Casemiro from Manchester United on a free transfer next summer. The move could reunite him with Cristiano Ronaldo. Although the 33-year-old defensive midfielder has not made a decision yet, the Brazilian controls the situation. He can take his time and pick what suits him best. Casemiro’s experience continues to attract offers.
Why Manchester United must think beyond sentiment?

Casemiro regains Amorim’s trust amid Al-Nassr interest
Casemiro’s comeback this season has brought mixed emotions. His defensive awareness and leadership traits are still present. Yet inconsistency continues to worry supporters. Early in Amorim’s tenure, the manager benched him.
Casemiro improved his fitness and work rate, which earned him a recall. Even so, Paul Scholes, who earlier criticised Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and Casemiro as incapable of making a difference for Manchester United, questioned whether the 33-year-old still has the sharpness needed for the Premier League. Recent performances show a split story. His goal against Chelsea reminded fans of his class.
However, his red card in the same match exposed his frustration. United’s long-term vision demands fresh energy in midfield, and players like Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson will fit that plan better. Amorim still relies on Casemiro’s leadership beside Bruno Fernandes. Yet his declining mobility and recurring injuries make him a very short-term fix for the club. Sentiment cannot replace strategy, and if United truly want to rebuild, they should let Casemiro leave gracefully.
