Analyst Names Key Injury Impacting Packers

The Green Bay Packers entered this season with sky-high aspirations.

They looked like a team ready to make a run at the Super Bowl, and they clearly had the personnel to do so.

Unfortunately, injuries have gotten in the way, and not even having their bye week has been enough to get them back to close to their strength.

With that in mind, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report pointed to Jayden Reed‘s injury as the most pressing ailment on their roster right now:

“WR Jayden Reed,” Gagnon wrote. “While the Packers have plenty of options at wide receiver, Reed led the team with 55 catches and 857 yards while scoring six touchdowns in 2024. That isn’t easy to replace, and it doesn’t help that Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) is hurting while Christian Watson (knee) continues to be out as they embark on a road trip to Arizona and Pittsburgh.”

That makes some sense, all things considered.

Like he mentioned, WR Christian Watson is still ramping things up, and the team erred on the side of caution again by ruling him out of their Week 7 trip to the desert against the Arizona Cardinals.

Then again, that’s also because OG Aaron Banks and OT Zach Tom are back on the field.

Their absence was clearly the main issue for Matt LaFleur’s team in the first month of the season.

Not only did it prevent them from running the ball efficiently, but it also put plenty of pressure on Jordan Love to get rid of the football sooner than he would’ve wanted to.

Even so, Love played pretty well in their absence.

As for Reed, he’s clearly a valuable part of the offense, but they have more than enough weapons to get by.

Rookie WR Matthew Golden has looked better by the week, and Romeo Doubs has done a great job of proving why he has to get a contract extension.
