The 2025-26 NBA season is closing in and one of the Western Conference’s top teams has locked down a huge superstar to a long-term contract just in time for the new campaign as Kevin Durant looks to lead the Houston Rockets towards a championship.

According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, the Rockets have finalized a two-year, $90 million extension with Durant ahead of the new season after the veteran NBA star joined the team from the Phoenix Suns this past offseason.

Durant recently surpassed the highest career earnings for an NBA star with over $592 million throughout his storied career, which tops LeBron James at nearly $583 million.

The 15-time NBA All-Star selection is now hoping to revive his career in Houston with a younger core of players as they hope to challenge the Oklahoma City Thunder and the rest of the elite teams in the Western Conference.
