Liverpool's players and supporters were furious with Alexis Mac Allister when he failed to stop the game against Manchester United
The Premier League Match Centre have confirmed why Liverpool weren’t awarded a penalty against Manchester United. The Reds fell behind inside the opening 63 seconds after Bryan Mbeumo finished past Giorgi Mamardashvili in front of the Kop.
However, players and supporters were left furious after referee Michael Oliver failed to stop play after picked up a head injury. And then those in red were left angered after saw a penalty appeal turned down after the ball hit Amad’s arm.
Referee Oliver waved away the appeals before VAR reviewed the incident and stuck with the on-field decision.
And The Match Centre have now confirmed: “The referee’s call of no penalty was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed that Amad’s arm was in a natural and justifiable position.”
Reacting to the incident, said on Sky Sports: “"Amad has his arm in the position that referees give penalties for.
"But it hits his other arm. He just needs to keep his arms down. He finds himself in situations he is not used to: blocking crosses."
