Andrée Jeglertz’s side came away from Gateshead International Arena with two points after prevailing 7-6 on penalties following a 3-3 draw in normal time.
The hosts took the lead through Lois Joel’s unstoppable effort from range before Laura Coombs’ effort levelled the scores on the cusp of half-time.
We then carried that momentum into the second half with Yui Hasegawa slamming our second into the net and Gracie Prior bundled home to extend our lead over the Magpies.
However, our WSL 2 hosts scored twice in the final 10 minutes through Freya Gregory and Shania Hayles to force a shootout.
City held our nerve on penalties though and Khiara Keating saved Demi Stokes’ effort - allowing Laura Blindkilde Brown to dispatch our seventh spot which grabbed an extra point.
