Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes shone as Manchester United defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim made two changes to his starting line up with Harry Maguire and Matheus Cunha in for Leny Yoro and Benjamin Sesko.
United enjoyed a dream start to the match as Bryan Mbeumo blasted them ahead after barely a minute, though Liverpool went close to an equaliser when Cody Gakpo fired an effort against the post. Fernandes then grazed the post with his own effort from the edge of the box in what was a frantic start to the match.
Gakpo saw a cross deflected against the post, and Alexander Isak drew a big stop from Senne Lammens as the home side pushed for a goal before the half-time break without any success.
Liverpool started the second half brightly as Gakpo fired another effort against the post, while Mohamed Salah wasted a glorious opportunity to level the scores when he blasted wide at the back post. Hugo Ekitike made a bright impact from the bench, but it was Gakpo who finally got the goal when he fired in from close range to set up a frantic finale.
The home side pushed for a winner, but instead it was United who found the back of the net when Harry Maguire headed in at the back-post after an excellent cross from Fernandes. Here is how we rated the United players on a huge day for Amorim.
He made a big stop to deny Isak and offered a commanding presence from balls into the box. Nothing he could do about the goal.

He covered for Amad Diallo on several occasions in defence but did not look the most comfortable on the right. A poor performance by his standards.
2. Matthijs De Ligt - 5

An aerial presence in both boxes and he dealt with the attacking threat well enough. Justified his place in the line up even before his dramatic goal.
3. Harry Maguire - 8

A great showing in the left centre-back role. He won plenty of balls, was neat in possession and held his own against the Liverpool forward line.
4. Luke Shaw - 7
