Everton could move for another striker in January, but Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee may be blocked from making a move.
Everton drew a blank on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-0 away at Manchester City.
There is no shame in falling to two Erling Haaland goals, but Everton had chances to find the net.
Beto left fans frustrated as he couldn’t score from close range in the first half, as he stretched to meet Iliman Ndiaye’s pass.
Everton just didn’t have the clinical finisher to make City pay, and that may lead to another attacking signing in January.

Reports suggest that Everton are considering striking targets for January.
Thierno Barry signed over the summer, but clearly isn’t quite ready to be a leading Premier League striker just yet.
Another forward could be targeted in January, and reports recently linked Joshua Zirkzee with a move to Everton.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
The Dutch attacker is struggling for first-team minutes at Manchester United and may fear for his place in the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Everton may have considered a loan move, but United boss Ruben Amorim doesn’t appear to be interested.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Amorim understands that some players want to play more games ahead of the World Cup.
However, Amorim feels that United need players like Zirkzee over the course of the season and doesn’t want him to leave.
“I understand that, but they are our players and we need everyone to have a good season,” said Amorim.
“I also know that in our club, everything is a lot of noise. Players are not playing. They want to play, and there’s a World Cup. There are agents that listen to the players, talking all the time,” he added.
Everton would be wise to move on from Joshua Zirkzee
We can’t imagine that Everton were ringing United incessantly in the hope of signing Zirkzee.
At this stage, any interest would have just been a case of keeping an eye on Zirkzee’s situation ahead of January.
United don’t seem to be keen on letting Zirkzee leave, and he would be an awkward fit for Everton anyway.
Everton need a number nine, and Zirkzee’s time at United suggests that isn’t his best role.
Zirkzee is better off as a number 10, and with Everton already possessing a number of other options in that area, David Moyes would be wise to look elsewhere.
