Harry Maguire returned to the Manchester United dressing room to a hero's welcome after his late winner sunk Liverpool.
Maguire headed home the winner at Anfield as United won 2-1 to make it back-to-back wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim and move just two points behind last season’s champions as Arne Slot’s struggles continue.
United took the lead inside two minutes when Bryan Mbeumo slotted past Giorgi Mamardashvili. The visitors defended gallantly, with Maguire at the heart, but Cody Gakpo eventually equalised having struck the post three times in the game.
However, United grabbed all three points with five minutes of normal time to go when Maguire headed home Bruno Fernandes’ looping cross.
The Red Devils managed to hold on and were left jubilant at the end of eight minutes of added time, with the celebrations on the pitch centring around the 32-year-old defender.

After the United players took in the applause from their raucous travelling support, Maguire headed to his media duties, speaking to Sky Sports.
And cameras captured the moment he returned to the United dressing room after the interview. Greeted first by Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes embraced the England international as the rest of his team-mates applauded him.
Maguire was then congratulated by his centre-back partner Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, who excitedly shouted and clapped at the match-winner.

The camera panned to show the rest of the United dressing room all clapping and cheering for the former United captain, who has endured some tough days during his stint at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, Maguire said: "It's been a long-time coming. It's been a tough place for us over recent years.
"We know how big it is for our fans. We have the cliche of it being 'only three points' but it is more than three points that today.

"It's massive for our club, for our fans and it is a great memory they are going to have. The lads are buzzing and as cliche as it is we need to build on it now and make sure to take the confidence from it and take the fighting spirit.
"We can play better on the ball, of course we can, we were sloppy at times, but there were times where we played through them and created numerous chances, especially in the first half.
"The fight and the spirit has got to be with us every game and that is something we need to make sure we show that against Brighton next Saturday. I'm sure the fans will have a good night."
