Just a few weeks ago, it looked like [Arizona Cardinals](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/arizona-cardinals) running back Michael Carter was going to full take the reins of the backfield.
Carter's apparent promotion came after injuries to both James Conner and Trey Benson, with the former suffering a season-ending injury.
Carter tallied 18 carries following the game in which Benson got hurt, but he then saw his workload take a hit the following week, when he saw just nine carries.
Now, he's off to an even slower start in Week 7 against the [Green Bay Packers](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/green-bay-packers). Here's what's going on.
Is Michael Carter playing today?
--------------------------------
Yes, Carter is active today, the Cardinals have just been giving Bam Knight all the work through one quarter of play.
Carter will likely factor in at some point, but it looks like he is no longer the team's lead back while Benson is out.
