**Getafe 0-1 Real Madrid** _(Mbappé). The late show steals the points..._ Here is the immediate reaction. To come: Player ratings, interviews and a podcast.
International break complete, and an away trip to Getafe awaited the players upon return. The short trip always proved to be a cagey occasion, and the line-up reflected this. Fede Valverde was at right-back once more, while Rodrygo Goes became a surprise inclusion after finding the net with Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil. Fede Valverde captained the side.
Kylian Mbappé kicked things off early, before Getafe had a penalty shout denied through VAR. The half became predictably cagey, and there was just one more chance for either side - with Thibaut Courtois making a save, and David Alaba hitting a free-kick straight at the opposing keeper. Half-time, 0-0 with little entertainment on on show for spectators.
The second half was just as dreary, with things only really getting going towards the end. Getafe went down to ten men when Allan Nyom put in an awful challenge - but VAR interrupted to spare the defender - changing his sanction from yellow to red. This still seemed to spur Los Blancos on, with Kylian Mbappé scoring moments later after being set up by Arda Güler. Getafe then did actually go down to ten men, after a second yellow was shown to another defender. Despite all this, they could have pinched a draw right at the death, but Thibaut Courtois ended up making a comfortable save to confirm the 1-0 win. Three points to Real Madrid who continue to sit at the top of La Liga. Thoughts?
