Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner exited Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion.
Head coach Aaron Glenn said after the game that Gardner is in concussion protocol.
It’s unclear how Gardner suffered the concussion but he was taken to the locker room during the fourth quarter of the 13-6 loss. The Jets announced that Gardner was questionable to return and he did not take the field on the next defensive series.
Glenn said the team will see how Gardner progresses this week before determining if he will play Week 8 against the Bengals in Cincinnati.
The Jets on Sunday benched starting quarterback Justin Fields for backup Tyrod Taylor at the beginning of the second half.
The Jets were also without star receiver Garrett Wilson, who is dealing with a knee injury.
