Patriots are on a roll, but players are far from satisfied

NASHVILLE - The Patriots are on a roll, having piled up four straight wins following Sunday’s 31-13 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Following the game, while the players have enjoyed the recent stretch of games, they are far from satisfied.

“We haven’t played our best football yet, and we all know it,” said cornerback and defensive captain Marcus Jones, who had an interception in the game. “Our main thing is making sure offense, defense, and special teams, we play all three phases in a great way. And go from there. It’s the National Football League. You’ve gotta build every week. So that’s the main thing we’re trying to do.”

From another corner of the visitor’s locker room, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who caught 7 passes for 69 yards, agreed.

“There’s a lot of plays we left out there. We’ll get back into the film room. Actually, that’s the fun part about it. When you’re winning, you can easily let a lot of things slide,” Diggs said. “But I think Coach McDaniels and our staff add another layer - when you win, I mean how many plays did we leave out there? Did we play our best ball? Everybody on this team can give you an honest answer and say no.”

Diggs said it’s easy when you lose to find ways to improve. The trick is getting better after wins.

“When you see good things happen, of course everybody wants to get overzealous in a way, or excited,” he said. “Us? We just want to get back to work tomorrow. We left some plays out there.

“I just think there’s a lot more out there. It’s not so much about the other team, it’s much more about us. If we can play better ball, better team ball, complementary, I think you know where this team can go for real.”
