Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers await further tests to determine the extent of the quarterback’s injury after he departed MetLife Stadium in a boot.
On Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the Panthers emerged 13-6 over the New York Jets in a defensive battle. Jaycee Horn snagged two interceptions for the Panthers, who were surprised by Aaron Glenn’s decision to pull Justin Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor.

The Jets remained winless, falling to 0-7 as a result, while the Panthers moved to 4-3 — the first time the franchise is above .500 since October 2021. But it was not all rainbows and butterflies for the NFC South franchise; Young had to depart the game with an ankle injury.

Young had completed 15 of 25 attempts for 138 yards and a touchdown against a tireless Jets defense when the injury occurred. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick left the game after suffering an ankle injury when sacked by Jowon Briggs. Young went to the locker room and did not return.
The Panthers were leading 13-3 when Young left the game to be replaced by veteran Andy Dalton, who finished 4 of 7 for 60 yards to secure a third successive victory for Dave Canales’ team.
Young was seen leaving MetLife in a boot, but according to running back Rico Dowdle, the quarterback had hopefully avoided a significant injury. Dowdle told reporters: “Hopefully it's minor.”
In his post-game press conference, Canales said: “We're evaluating for the right ankle. So we're taking all the information and we're going to look at him when we get home some more, and see where we're at.”

Ultimately, Canales is confident the offense will remain unchanged even if Dalton has to step in against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. The veteran had the starting job in 2024 before a car crash allowed Young to return to the lineup, and he didn’t look back.
“We'll look at all that and see what the best version of us is,” Canales said. “But right now it's running the football, and Andy can handle all those things and the pass game, the reps, the time on task with the group that we have, we've got to stay within the core of our system, and Andy's fully involved in all that.
“So if he does play, that'll be the mode.”

Young has only missed one game in his career because of injury, the third game of his rookie season in Seattle. That absence was also due to an ankle issue.
The 4-3 Panthers take on the 4-2 Bills at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 26.
