Dillon Gabriel underwhelming in his first home start.
Save for one pass to Jerry Jeudy that could've been intercepted, Gabriel kept the ball out of harm's way. He used his legs more.
It was also another game where he left plays on the field.
On the first trip into the red zone, the Browns designed a rub concept with Jeudy and running back Jerome Ford out of the backfield. Jeudy ran a slant, getting decked by a defender in the process. Ford was wide open running into the end zone.
Gabriel either tried to throw the ball to Jeudy and thought better of it, causing it to go into the ground or tried to throw it to Ford and couldn't grip the ball. Either way, the ball fell harmlessly to the ground and the Browns had to kick a field goal.
Gabriel has ability, but he needs to start making these plays. These are well designed plays with open receivers.
Without being too hard on him given the weather conditions, he needs to make strides. Opponents are putting a ton of players on the line of scrimmage to stop Judkins. Gabriel can force the defense to back off if he starts hitting on these plays.
With presumably better weather, Gabriel also needs to look downfield more. He did take one shot to Jeudy, which fell incomplete. There were a few other situations where he appeared to have his eyes downfield, but didn't pull the trigger.
