Joe was glad to watch this unfold this morning, even if it was part of the rival Rams clobbering Liam “El Serpiente” Coen’s punchless Jaguars.
While the Rams pounded the Jagss 35-7, Los Angeles receiver Davante Adams scored the 107th, 108th and 109th receiving touchdowns of his storied career. Before Sunday, Adams was tied with Bucs receiver Mike Evans with 106.
Each was drafted in 2014 and both are destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Adams’ big day now placed him alone in ninth on the career receiving touchdowns list. Evans got kicked by to 10th all-time.
Evans said publicly this year that [watching Adams thrive motivates him](https://www.joebucsfan.com/2025/08/davante-adams-motivates-mike-evans/). Evans entered this season leading Adams in TD catches 105 to 103.
Joe does not discount Evans’ desire to be the unquestioned best of his draft class. Adams also leads Evans in total catches. Evans has never been named first team All-Pro; Adams got the honor in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
While Joe is just happy Evans is on track to play tomorrow night against Detroit, returning after missing three games with a bad hamstring, the big picture is also on Joe’s mind.
Motivating Evans to want to keep grinding on his NFL career with the Bucs is a good thing. He can help the team immensly next season even if he’s past his prime.
