**Paul Merson makes surprising West Ham prediction ahead of Brentford clash.**
Since the start of 2025, West Ham have won just two home games. The unfortunate reality is that this is simply relegation form, and their position early on in the Premier League season reflects that.
Their match against Brentford is already looking like a huge one, with both sides potentially facing a relegation battle.
Even with their awful home form in mind though, Paul Merson has tipped the Hammers to come out on top in the London derby.
“Just three points between these two teams, so whoever wins, it’s a massive result at the bottom of the table.”
“Brentford haven’t been as bad as West Ham, who have already sacked their manager. But if West Ham win this, they go level on points with Brentford, which is somewhat crazy to think.”
“West Ham haven’t won at home since February and I can’t believe I’m still backing them here. I just feel Brentford’s poor run away from home will continue, much to the delight to the Hammers’ fans.”
With the boycott (which I fully support), the home form, and the overall mood in mind, I just can’t see this happening. Brentford have too much quality going forward despite their sales, and the Irons’ back line is still so weak.
