Newcastle United are looking to develop top players for the future, but loan moves aren’t exactly working out.
PIF’s takeover was initially viewed as a quick-fire route to the top for Newcastle United.
That hasn’t been the case, and while PSR has been an issue, Newcastle also needed infrastructure improvements.
The development of young players needed to improve, and that remains the case amid loan problems.

Newcastle United loanees suffering slow starts
Premier League clubs use the loan market regularly, with a view to players developing away from the club.
Newcastle went down that route over the summer, sending the likes of Joe White, Trevan Sanusi, Antonio Cordero and Travis Hernes out on loan.
The season may only be two months old, but those four players have endured slow starts to the season.
White has played just 46 minutes in League One across three substitute appearances for Leyton Orient this season.
MORE NEWCASTLE STORIES
The 23-year-old hasn’t featured since 23 August, and is currently on the sidelines through injury.
It’s a similar story for Sanusi, whose ankle injury means he hasn’t made his Ligue 1 debut for Lorient.
Newcastle signed Sanusi from Birmingham City in 2023, and while there are high hopes for the 18-year-old, this season hasn’t gone to plan just yet.
Summer signing Cordero has barely featured for Westerlo and wasn’t even on the bench against La Louviere over the weekend.
Midfielder Hernes has been on the bench for all five of Groningen’s Eredivisie games this season, but he has not yet been called upon.
Both Cordero and Hernes need first-team exposure, but they have yet to break through with their loan clubs.
Shola Ameobi may need to step in ahead of January transfer window
This situation just isn’t good enough as Newcastle attempt to develop young players.
First loans can be a mixed bag, but the Magpies may have expected more from the first couple of months.
Injuries for White and Sanusi are unfortunate, but the lack of action for Cordero and Hernes is concerning.
Former striker Shola Ameobi serves as Newcastle’s loan manager, and he surely isn’t impressed.
If the situations of Newcastle’s loan talents don’t turn around soon, Ameobi may need to step in and find new loan moves for them come January.
