TBR Football understands that Nottingham Forest are close to finalising a deal for Sean Dyche following talks over the weekend.
The two parties have been locked in talks all weekend over the length of the contract, and now an agreement is close. We understand that any agreement will likely include break clauses on both sides.
The former Everton boss has emerged as the frontrunner for the role following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou after Forest’s defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

Dyche had already met with club officials last week, aware that the Australian was on the brink.
Sources: Sean Dyche wants long-term Nottingham Forest future
Sources have told TBR Football that Dyche, who recently turned down the chance to take charge of Scottish giants Rangers, has been offered an initial deal until the end of the season, with the option to extend depending on results.
However, it is believed the 53-year-old is pushing for a longer commitment.
Nottingham Forest, for their part, insists they are assessing all their options, which has included talks with Italian coach Roberto Mancini.
We can also confirm that Fulham manager Marco Silva remains of huge interest to Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who previously worked successfully with the Portuguese at Olympiakos. However, luring him away mid-season is not seen as realistic.
In addition, Forest’s head of global football, Edu, is understood to be a big admirer of his former Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas.
The Spaniard is impressing at Italian side Como, and Edu believes he could be an option for the future – though, like Silva, a move this season is not possible.
Sean Dyche will leave Forest after season – unless he works ‘miracles’
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey said: “The fact Dyche can start work immediately stands him in very good stead, and he’s very much in pole position to be the next Forest boss.
“In an ideal world, someone like Marco Silva would be the dream choice, but getting him or someone similar mid-season is hugely unlikely.
“Dyche is pushing for a longer deal than is currently on the table. Forest want an initial agreement until the end of the season with the option to extend. Talks are continuing and the club are confident they can get it done.”
Bailey also told TBR Football that Dyche is expected to come in and steady the ship at Forest, with the club potentially looking elsewhere in the summer. However, if he works miracles, that plan could change.
Dyche’s appointment now looks almost certain – the big question is: can he turn the Tricky Trees’ season around?
