“Not going to happen” – Manager publicly rules out Nottingham Forest

Steve Cooper has reiterated he has no plans to leave Brøndby IF for Nottingham Forest.

On Sunday, the Danish club secured a settled for a 3-3 draw. After the match, he was asked about the Nottingham Forest links and Tipsbladet have relayed his comments.

Cooper spent over two years at Nottingham Forest between 2021 and 2023, helping them return to the Premier League in 2022.

Ange Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espírito Santo in September, and the results weren’t as desired. This led to reports linking Cooper, who joined Brøndby last month, with a move back to Nottingham Forest.

On Friday, Cooper dismissed speculation linking him to the English club. A day later, the Reds parted ways with Postecoglou, minutes after their 3-0 league defeat to Chelsea.

After Sunday’s draw against AGF, the Brøndby manager was again quizzed about rumours of Nottingham Forest interest. The 45-year-old ruled out a return to his old club and insisted he’s happy in Denmark.

“It’s not going to happen. I’m really, really happy here at the club. I am a very authentic person, and if you listen to what I have said, you can hear that I am authentic, and when you say things, you have to show it,” he said.

“I’m only focusing on the day-to-day here, because there are many areas where we can take the club to the next level.

“Just look at the form today [Sunday]. We need to be in better shape. It’s a classic thing for a new manager to say, but the players can also tell that I’ve been very clear about it.”

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports Nottingham Forest have held talks with Roberto Mancini over the vacant role. However, the two parties haven’t found an agreement.

The UK press now report Sean Dyche is leading to become Postecoglou’s successor.
