Fabrizio Romano shares Nottingham Forest manager update this morning after 'talks collapse'

Nottingham Forest are now close to appointing Sean Dyche as their new manager, after talks with Roberto Mancini collapses on Sunday, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

It's been a whirlwind period for the Tricky Trees over the last few months, who are now close to bringing in their third manager of the season. Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked after just three Premier League games of the campaign, replaced by Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager has now joined Nuno in being sacked, with Postecoglou relieved of his duties less than an hour after the full-time whistle had blown against Chelsea on the weekend.

Evangelos Marinakis is now working on appointing a new manager for Forest, and it's safe to say he might regret some of the decisions he's made this season. The sacking of Nuno was a confusing one for many supporters, and the appointment of Postecoglou raised even more questions.

Fabrizio Romano: Nottingham Forest Close to Dyche Appointment

Sean Dyche smiles

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed on Monday morning that Nottingham Forest are close to appointing Sean Dyche as their manager, after talks collapsed with former Manchester City boss Mancini on Sunday. Romano confirms that the final details are being sorted for Dyche to make the move to The City Ground.

"Sean Dyche is now close to getting the job. The agreement is very close, final details to be sorted. Mancini rejected as talks collapsed on Sunday."

Dyche is a major contrast in profile of manager to Postecoglou, but he could be what they need to try and stabilise after a difficult start to the season. Forest currently sit in the relegation zone in the Premier League, two points adrift of safety, and it was clearly not working under Postecoglou. Dyche focuses heavily on solving defensive issues, and only Wolves and West Ham United have conceded more goals than Forest this season.
