Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff are set to face-off on Monday Night Football with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions will face each other for the third time in as many years - with the former hoping to exact revenge.

Mayfield will be looking to get one back on Goff after losing his last three to him though, with two interceptions coming in that aforementioned playoff game still leaving a sour taste.

The Buccaneers quarterback is playing at an MVP level through the first six weeks of the season, with him previously speaking very highly of the Lions and playing at Ford Field.

Speaking about facing the Lions last season, he believed coming up against Dan Campbell's team is a good measure of how good your roster is and can be.

Baker Mayfield is having a sensational season

When asked whether the Lions rematch serves as a solid benchmark for evaluating their progress, Mayfield responded: "This is definitely one of those. I mean, every week you have to bring your best stuff. At this level, if you don't show up you can get beat any given week.

"This is one of those [measuring sticks] – on the road with a team who was in the NFC Championship, where we aspire to be, so it's one of those.

"You said it, measuring sticks to great competition [and to] see how our guys handle it early on. You know, it's a long season but we can learn a lot from this one."

He has been reliant on impressive rookie Emeka Egbuka, who is fourth in yards behind his former Ohio State teammate in league-leader Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, Egbuka is now set to be out with a hamstring injury.

The depleted Buccaneers has a point to prove against the Lions on prime time, with a win going a long way in given them belief that they could be a contender this season.
