**Anthony Elanga's X-rated outburst after Sweden's defeat to Kosovo last week grabbed all the headlines as the Newcastle United winger demanded a change to the system.**
His tirade was overheard by the Swedish press and published that same day, while TV reporters asked Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson his thoughts on what was said.
Tomasson said he'd not heard exactly what Elanga had said, but it's safe to say that the Dane would not have been amused with the verbal criticism from one of his stars.
Fortunately for Elanga, before Tomasson could dish out the punishment, he was relieved of his duties as Sweden boss, the first person ever to be sacked from that job.

Graham Potter is the new Sweden boss
Anthony Elanga has dodged a bullet
----------------------------------
It feels almost inevitable that Elanga would have been dropped from the squad had Tomasson stayed in charge.
He was already being underused by the former Newcastle striker, with Swedish media complaining that he sat on the bench in the game against Switzerland when they needed his pace to break the Swiss lines.
Sweden has today announced [via their official website](https://www.svenskfotboll.se/nyheter/landslag/2025/10/graham-potter-ny-forbundskapten/) that there's a new sheriff in town in the form of former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham boss Graham Potter.
Potter has an almost impossible task ahead of him
-------------------------------------------------
Potter was at one point being touted for the England job, but after spells at Chelsea and West Ham, the hype has died down over his ability.
He'll be hoping this gig at the international level will restore his credibility. Although he's been given a thankless task. A short-term contract to pull Sweden off the bottom of their World Cup qualifying group in a bid to get them to next year's competition.
Potter will know about Elanga and Emil Krafth from his time managing in England, so this could be good news for Newcastle's Swedish duo.
